Manning Cup champions St Georges College left it until the last minute to earn a one all draw with nine man Eltham High in the opening match at Jarrett Park.
Eltham went in front on 25 minutes through Shawn Elleston after a goal keeping error.
They however lost two players; the first was ejected in the 35 minute while goal scorer Ellenton was ejected in the 50th minute.
St Georges College got the equaliser in the 85th minute through Omari Jones.
DaCosta Cup champions St James High started the defence of their title with a business-like 4-nil win over Spot Valley High.
The champions had to wait until the 68th minute for the first goal, scored by John Barrett.
Last season's top marksman Allan Ottey made it two-nil, Ricardo Morris added the third, while Roshane Reid completed the victory, scoring in the 80th minute.
