CLIVE Pullen of Kingston College and Ann-Marie Duffus of Edwin Allen High were the toasts at the LIME High Performance Award Luncheon at the Terra Nova Hotel, following last week's ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships.

Fourteen-year-old Pullen - who tallied 25 points for winning the Class 3 high and long jump events and placing second in the 100m hurdles - and 18-year-old Duffus - who collected 27 points after winning the heptathlon and long jump events before placing third in the javelin - were crowned the most outstanding male and female athletes of the four-day meet.

In addition to being awarded with one desktop computer each, Pullen and Duffus both received $40,000 to be administered by their respective schools.
The duo also collected $40,000 each for being the high performers in their respective classes.

LIME, which served as the official telecommunication partner of Athletic Championships, handed out cash prizes and awards valued at more than $1.65 million.

St George's College and Frome High both received $100,000 for being the most improved school. St George's, who tallied 94 points - up from the 34 scored in 2008 - were the most improved boys school, while Frome, who tallied 11 points after failing to score last year - copped the girls equivalent.

LIME's VP of Corporate Communications Errol Miller, who confirmed that his company will be partnering with ISSA for the 100th staging in 2010, said they will be handing out another $1 million to help schools with Penn Relays expenses next week.

"As far as we're concerned Jamaican young people must be given every opportunity to achieve their full potential and LIME is dedicated to doing that," Miller told the Observer.

LIME also presented champion boys school, KC, with $250,000 for topping the 'Champs Text Promotion'.

In addition to the cash and prizes awarded to the athletes and schools based on the Championships, employees of LIME handed over a total of $400,000 to 20 schools following an internal competition by past students. St Andrew Technical topped the girls section with $75,000, while KC were victors on the boys side with $53,000.
